This program is open to students who reside in the Potsdam Central School District and attend

Lawrence Avenue Elementary School.

 

Latch Key is our before and after school childcare offered to assist families. To enroll your child(ren) in Latch Key please follow the steps below.

Latch Key is our before and after school childcare offered to assist families. To enroll your child(ren) in Latch Key please follow the steps below.

 

TO REGISTER YOUR CHILD

Step 1: Complete the online registration form

Step 2: Complete a paper copy of the Medical Release form and get it notarized

Step 3: Drop off your notarized Medical Release form(s) and a $75 deposit at the Lawrence Avenue Main Office to secure your child's spot.

 

REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS AUGUST 16th.

Space is limited. Completed applications and deposits will be given priority. Applications turned in after the registration deadline will be placed on a waiting list if no spots are available.

 

PROGRAM INFORMATION

  • Morning Latch Key runs from 7:00-8:30AM. Families are responsible for their child’s transportation to the program in the morning.

  • Afternoon Latch Key runs from 3:00-5:00PM and a snack is provided. All children must be picked up no later than 5:00PM. There will be a $10 late fee for a late pick up.

  • Please note children must be enrolled in Latch Key prior to attending the program. This is not a “drop-in” program nor can it be used as one.

 

PRICING

The total costs for the different program options are linked below. There is a reduced rate for students who qualify for free/reduced lunch. A free/reduced application must be on file with the district to qualify. Please reach out to the Food Service Department, Randy Collins at [email protected]

 

Families will need to notify the school if they have an application on file. This information is confidential and not available to school personnel.

 

BILLING

Families will be billed by the District Office. Checks should be made out to Potsdam Central School -Latch Key.

ABOUT LATCH KEY

Philosophy

To provide a safe, nurturing environment for your child before and after the school day centered around play and socialization.

 

Program Information

  • Open to students in grades PreK-4th who reside in and are enrolled at the Potsdam Central School District.

  • All paperwork must be completed to enroll in the program.

  • Enrollments and fees are based on a semester schedule per child.

  • Latch Key only runs when school is in session.

  • Parents/Guardians must show ID to sign their child(ren) out each day.

 

AVAILABILITY OF LATCH KEY....

 

SCHOOL CLOSED: NO AM or PM Latch Key

ONE/TWO HOUR DELAY: Latch Key will be delayed the same amount of time.

EARLY DISMISSAL: No AFTERNOON Latch Key if school is dismissed early.

 

 

BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS....

 

We expect students to contribute in a positive manner to our school community. The following is a list of rules for the Latch Key program:

  1. Show respect

  2. Make good decisions

  3. Solve problems

 

Children who do not follow the program's standards may be dismissed. Your child could be dismissed from the program for any of the following reasons:

 

1. Physical or verbal aggression, threats or intimidation.

2. Swearing or use of vulgar and/or inappropriate language.

3. Destruction of public or personal property.

4. Continued disrespect or disobedience.

5. Disregard for the school district's policies on weapons, tobacco, alcohol, etc.

6. Aggressive or threatening behavior toward any staff or children.
